Pine Lawn Homes Closes

Pine Lawn Homes was approved by the SLEFI Investment Committee on May 30, 2012 and closed on September 19, 2012. The development will consist of 31 new, three bedroom homes with an average of 1,200 square feet to meet the housing needs of families under 60% of the median income. The units will be built near the new Barack Obama Elementary School and, in addition to meeting the critical need of affordable housing, they will also add to the ongoing effort to upgrade the entire community by putting new homes where empty lots or empty, deteriorated buildings used to be.

This project is part of an overall effort aimed at stabilizing the housing stock in Pine Lawn. In addition to the construction of these homes, Beyond Housing has assisted in the rehabilitation of some 40 homes in the Pine Lawn area through the utilization of grants from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines and the Neighborhood Stabilization Program.

Beyond Housing will build on its many years of experience in providing service enriched, affordable housing to the residents of Pine Lawn by offering a variety of individualized supportive services for each of the families that will live in the homes. The project includes a $150,000 Social Service Reserve which will be utilized in providing these services.
